An integrable family of torqued, damped, rigid rotors

چکیده
Expositions of the Euler equations for rotation a rigid body often invoke idea specially damped system whose energy dissipates while its angular momentum magnitude is conserved in frame. An attempt to explicitly construct such damping function leads more general, but still integrable, cubic trajectories are confined nested sets quadric surfaces space. For some choices parameters, lines fixed points along both largest and smallest moment inertia axes can be simultaneously attracting. Limiting cases those that conserve either or momentum. Parallels with rod mechanics, micromagnetics, particles effective mass briefly discussed.

Single-Plane Auto-Balancing of Rigid Rotors
This paper presents an analytical study of single-plane automatic balancing of statically and dynamically unbalanced rigid rotors, considering also the effect of partial unbalance compensation and vibration reduction. We consider a rotor equipped with a selfbalancing device consisting of a circular track with moving balls to compensate for rotor unbalance. The investigations include an analysis...

متن کاملSupervisory Adaptive Balancing of Rigid Rotors during Acceleration
This paper investigates active real-time balancing of rigid rotors during the transient time of acceleration. First, the governing equation of motion of a rigid rotor is formulated. A parametric adaptive control scheme is then designed based on this dynamic model. An ordinary recursive least squares estimation method is used to estimate parameters in this adaptive control scheme. A supervisory ...
متن کاملAlmost-global tracking for a rigid body with internal rotors
Almost-global orientation trajectory tracking for a rigid body with external actuation has been well studied in the literature, and in the geometric setting as well. The tracking control law relies on the fact that a rigid body is a simple mechanical system (SMS) on the 3−dimensional group of special orthogonal matrices. However, the problem of designing feedback control laws for tracking using...
متن کاملNorges Teknisk-naturvitenskapelige Universitet Efficient Time-symmetric Simulation of Torqued Rigid Bodies Using Jacobi Elliptic Functions
If the three moments of inertia are different from each other, the solution to the free rigid body (FRB) equations of motion is given in terms of Jacobi elliptic functions. Using the Arithmetic-Geometric mean algorithm, [1], these functions can be calculated efficiently and accurately. The overall approach yields a faster and more accurate numerical solution to the FRB equations compared to sta...
